This trail is a pleasant hike following what seems to be an old logging roadway above the Boulder River. At about the mid-point of the hike the trail enters a dense old growth forest, crossing a number of small creeks.  The trail only gains 400 feet in elevation over its 4 mi. length and the trail is wide making it a great family hike.  The day we hiked the trail we ran into several families with small children hiking the trail.

At 0.9 mile, a trail drops down to the river where you can find the remnants of an old shelter and a A photo of a sign is loading.......few nice camp spots.

The trail enters the Boulder River Wilderness at the 1.0 mile point.

At 1.2 miles, there are a series of cascades and waterfalls seen across Boulder River on the opposite bank. A trail leads to the base of the falls where there is small campsite.

At about 2.5 miles, the timber is thick and the river is seldom seen. At 4.0 miles the trail descends to Boulder Ford.   This is the end of the maintained trail.

At about 0.7 mi. up the road you will encounter the photo above.  Believe the sign, this is the last toilet facility.

The use of livestock is prohibited on this trail.

Be careful at the trailhead as it often becomes plugged with cars and there is no place to turn around.  We suggest you turn around before you hike.  The day we were there a hiker with expensive hiking gear thoughtlessly parked right in the middle of the only spot you could turn around and walked off up the trail.

A National Park Service wilderness permit is required for overnight stays within the National Park. Permits can be obtained in person at National Park Service offices in Sedro-Woolley or Marblemount.

A Northwest Forest Pass is required for each vehicle parked at the trailhead.
